Program Overview
The Surgical Technologist program prepares students to work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other members of the surgical department. Surgical technologists deliver patient care and perform tasks to ensure a safe surgical environment.
Skills you will learn:
- Work with surgeons, nurses & operating room personnel to ensure surgical procedures are performed efficiently & effectively
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery; create & maintain a sterile environment
- Maintain surgical equipment, rooms & supplies
- Understand & apply fundamental surgical steps & routine procedures
The program prepares students to be eligible to sit for the certification exam given by the National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants.
The Surgical Technology Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Technology and Assisting (ARC/STSA) and the CAAHEP's Board of Director.

Every degree-seeking student must complete the College’s General Education Requirements in addition to the requirements of his/her academic program. Through the College’s General Education Requirements, students acquire basic knowledge of the disciplines in the areas of arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, biological and physical sciences, mathematics, English composition, and computer literacy.
